This range generally functions O.K., with excellent surface burner control.
My Kitchenaid range was flawed. The upper panel on which the control panel was mounted was too flimsy.Pushing the control buttons caused an annoying amount of flex that gave the range a very cheap toy-like feel.To make matters worse, when the panel flexed back during button depression, the resultant shift in load on the right side panel cause an annoying "pong" sound as the slightly warped right sheet-metal side shifted from an outward bow to an inward bow.So using the controls not only had a bad feel, but yielded an annoying sound with each button push.
Rather than call out a service repair person under warranty and rick that they could not fix the problem, or order a replacement range and risk a repeat of the problem, I fixed the problem myself. At my local "Orchard Supply Hardware" I bought two steel "Stanley" pre-drilled 10" plates that were about 1" wide.I mounted them vertically on each side edge in the back, spanning the upper panel down along the sides. This $8 repair fixed the problem...completely.The panel no longer has significant flex, and the side doesn't make the annoying popping sound.
The engineers of this appliance should go back to the drawing board, and modify the sheet metal structure such that the upper panel does not flex so much under normal use.
This range has a "convection bake" and "convection roast" mode. The instruction manual fails to discuss the difference in these modes in terms of how the heating elements (upper, lower, and convection fan) function. It also does not describe why one mode is better than the other for different kinds of food.
The broiler is a bit uneven.
I don't associate grade "C" quality with the name Kitchenaid. But unfortunately they only earned a "C" with this product.
